(An open letter from Chancellor Manuel B. Agulto, M.D.)
Let us all unite in helping our brethren who have been devastated by Typhoon Yolanda.
UP led by UP Manila Pahinungod will be sending a medical and relief team to help the victims specifically at Palo, Leyte. Director Eric Talens will head the medical and relief team.
As of now, communication with our faculty, staff, and students at UPM-SHS has been impossible. Based on media reports, Palo is one of the worst hit areas.
Dean Buddy Destura has been stranded in Manila. Dean Destura will continue to find ways to establish a concrete report on how SHS is doing. If you have any information on SHS please let us know so we can address their situation as soon as we can.
In the meantime, we encourage all UP units, alumni and friends, to extend any help we can. Every simple help goes a long way.
We urge all deans and directors to mobilize students, staff, and faculty to extend any help possible.
Below are a list of items that we can collect and donate:
-canned goods/ready-to-eat food
-hygiene kit (toilet paper, soap, shampoo, alcohol, toothbrush, toothpaste)
To facilitate an organized relief operation, the UP Manila Pahinungod will be the central drop off for donations. Their office is at the mezzanine level of PGH. Please contact Dr. Lulin Luz +639219236569 or any Pahinungod staff 5266950 or 5266951.
The bank account will be posted by Monday. Click here
The Office of the Chancellor (OC) and the communication officers of IPPAO will also facilitate in disseminating information.
